NINETEEN. VICTIM OF BLIND OPTIMISM. PREGNANT. ENGAGED.
charlotte delano - or charlie as she prefers - was born and raised in atlanta, georgia. but before that her mother lived in las vegas, where she worked as a show girl and played the role of mistress for a casino owner. when she fell pregnant with her first child, her lover begged her to abort, attempted to bribe her, but when she refused, he sent her away and made it impossible for her to work in the area. so, she returned to her home town of atlanta where she had her son dillon. dillon was a bad child unless he was being coddled, making it difficult for elaine to work, but eventually had to. she worked as an aide in a nursing home, where she met charlie's father. the two dated and married within the first year, displeasing dillon greatly. by their first anniversary, elaine was pregnant with her second child. charlie was born beautiful and talented, loved by her parents, but hated by her elder brother. when charlie's parents died in a car accident when she was fifteen, dillon became charlie's legal guardian, a job he took great pleasure in. he put her down as often as he could, telling her she was unattractive and had no talent, something she never took seriously. she knew better. when she was eighteen, she packed her bags and left. she stayed with men, depended on men, traveled with men. six months ago she traveled to london with a man who left her within their first few weeks here. a few months later, once on her feet, working small jobs, she met damien. he was attractive and needed a cheering up - something charlie was always good at. but, three months later, she finds herself pregnant and, well, i hear there's a shotgun wedding in her future. as for lovers, she has plenty from her past, only one of which she knows is in the area. for the future, she won't need any, because she's determined to be a good wife and mother. friends she'll need plenty, she's a very friendly person. enemies, well, maybe.
